Laptop Donated to Barangay

The Sagunto Barangay Council received a donated laptop from Mrs. Ophelia "Babot" Glasser recently. This laptop will be used for Barangay administrative needs and to use in accessing the internet for emails and updating this blogsite. Mrs. Emily Homma, Mrs. Ophelia Pasibe-Glasser and Mrs. Jeanette Moore have pledged to fund the cost of accessing the internet for at least the first year.

There are still a number of items needed from the Barangay Wishlist as compiled by Babot during her visit in February.

Hiya Marifaye!
Hihihi! The laptop is so old but they insisted I send so there it is. I just hope it doesn't break down too soon otherwise they'll be asking for newer one...Booohooohooo. (Kidding!) Yeah, look around UK to see what you guys and gals can send back home for the barangay office. Any office supplies or what-nots. We'll just think of it as charitable recycling :-)

Hugs to you and all in UK!

Dear Apo Kagawad Cesar,
Thank you for dropping by recently. Wish you could always come to share us information and goings on in the community. I've promised earlier (together with the others) some support for the internet use of the barangay officials. We'd be very glad if at least some or one of you inform many of us Saguntonians worldwide bits of happenings in the barrio. Maestro Ferdie can just write in his log book the number of hours you've spent (with an average of 10 hours per month) for three months for the time being. Other set of three months shouldered by cousins here (refer to the article above). I'll see Maestro in a few months time to pay my dues.

Mabalin met kadi nga pakitulungan da kami ti panagiwaras ti impormasyon maipapan kadagitoy nga pasalip nga i sponsor mi? Para amin dagitoy kadagiti ayayaten tayo a kabaryuan ken kumunidad apo:

I came to visit the Barangay council website since am so happy and proud upon learning the accomplishment of our Barangay Council headed by Kapitan Manuel Esteban I have heard of so many accomplishments being made I know that you are working so hard honest and humble serving the people to its fullest and I just want to extend my greetings to all of you and am hoping that the council will use this blogsite to publish all your accomplishments not that you want to be proud of but for us the public to be informed on what is happening to our beloved barrio so for now am challenging the council to give the authority to the Barangay Secretary to use this site upon your approval make use of it so sad that it was an idle site since it was installed yes I agree that this is the first of its kind for a barangay to have a blogsite but what is the use if we don't update it? other than this request I really salute the council for working so hard for the welfare of the Barangay.

The said laptop is too old and almost unusable.....it doesn,t have a usb port a cd rom... and it cannot be used for internet coz there's no LAN card...^^ It has been exagerately posted huh!

Hey anon,
If you look at my earlier comment,I said, "The laptop is so old but they insisted I send so there it is." I do not know which was, as you say, " It has been exagerately posted huh!" My friend, you're comment shows a much too often repeated trait in our barrio, that which is a sense of entitlement and lack of gratitude for what little we can share with the people there.

Haan mo uyawen ti basiit a maited ti maysa a tao, imbag laengen ta ada maited da. No kasta ti sao a mangeg ti maysa ken maysa, maikat ti ganas ti sabali nga mang-tulong to mannen kenyao. Dayta laeng ti maibagak iti inka insurat ditoy.

God bless you and your parents, too. I hope you will be sooo blessed that you will be able to buy the barangay a MUCH BETTER computer, eh?

dear anon...if you happen to have laptops of this type, i beg you to just hand them to me, pls. my old (Windows 98, upgraded to XP)is now fully loaded and i just can't hand it away as it could still do a lot of functions: lots of stored data and software, word processing, Excel (the Brgy Council badly needs for their accounting and reports), photoshop, publisher, powerpoint, access, etc...things that are very very useful for my studies and business...(gosh, why have people begun to be enslaved by commercialism; do we have to dump our old but still useful gadgets just to keep up with the times and pressure from manufacturers?)Oh yes, that's the common pact in Japan to keep commerce going. But suited for them who are millionaires...and the needs of some officials are limited to just word processing and keeping the books! Hey, I love my PCs with floppy disks, by the way. I just can't part with my important floppy files and I'm lazy to transfer them. Anybody wants to buy models with all the types of drives, cd-rom, floppy, dvd, usb, etc? Japan-made are versatile ones, to cater to conservative professors who stored their nobel-prize winning inventions and data in floppy disks (it's a Jap professor who invented the floppy disk, FYI). What is more interesting is that, there are now plug-in gadgets that could solve anon's problem of incompatible ports and drives. It's as small as a memory stick that could convert whatever socket you may have.Go to Urdaneta, they have it! And I'll tell you what to do to save yourself from that 20-peso 1-hour internet connection: type and save your data at that floppy disk, then take it to my soon-to-open netcafe to upload via the internet using my versatile computers still equipped with floppy drives! You pay just 5 pesos instead of 20....see that big savings? Hey, Evs, don't biz biz me here again, hehehe. This is for anon. Some biz ideas are formed to address other people's dilemmas and lack of resourcefulness.
